In a heartfelt message on Twitter, Tyler Buchner, the former quarterback for Notre Dame, announced that he will be transferring to the Crimson Tide. Buchner expressed his gratitude to Notre Dame and shared that he believes playing for Alabama is the best move for his future. Once again, he will be working with former Notre Dame offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Tommy Rees.
With three years of eligibility remaining, Buchner has ample time to showcase his skills on the field. He exhibited promise in the Gator Bowl last season, throwing for 273 yards and three touchdowns, as well as rushing for two more scores. However, he also threw three interceptions.
It is not surprising that Alabama is bringing in a new quarterback as their quarterback situation is somewhat uncertain at the moment. Both Jalen Milroe and Ty Simpson struggled in the spring game, and Saban’s biggest complaint was their inability to protect the football.
However, Buchner only has six touchdown passes to eight interceptions in two seasons at Notre Dame and struggled in the spring game, where he threw for just 44 yards and an interception on 8-of-18 passing.
