Every child deserves a safe place to call home, a loving family, and the opportunity to grow surrounded by their culture, language, and traditions. The Seventh Generation Children’s Home, an initiative of the Indigenous Peoples Movement, was created to provide Native children in foster care with more than just a roof over their heads. It is a place of healing, belonging, and hope.
Our dream became a reality when we were offered an incredible opportunity to purchase a property valued at more than $300,000 for just $80,000. Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of our supporters, we raised the funds needed to purchase the property outright, paying cash and securing a permanent home for generations of Native children to come. What once seemed like an impossible dream became a powerful example of what we can accomplish when a community comes together.
Located in the Black Hills region of South Dakota, our home provides a nurturing environment where children can reconnect with their Lakota identity, learn their language, embrace traditional teachings, and develop the confidence to build a brighter future.
Guided by the Lakota philosophy of honoring the next seven generations, we believe that by protecting, nurturing, and empowering our children today, we are helping strengthen our families, communities, and nations for generations to come.
We Have the Home. Now Help Us Fill It With Love.
Although we have successfully purchased the home, our work is not finished. We still need to raise $2,500 per month for the next 12 months to cover the remaining salary costs for our live-in house parents, who will provide the daily care, stability, and loving guidance these children deserve.
We invite you to become part of this mission by making a 12-month commitment of any amount, even as little as $5 per month. Simply click Donate Monthly to set up your recurring contribution. If you prefer, you can also make a one-time donation covering your entire 12-month pledge upfront.
Together, we have already accomplished something extraordinary. Now, with your continued support, we can ensure that this home is not only a place for children to live, but a place where they are loved, protected, and given every opportunity to thrive.
